Frequently Asked Questions

What are the differences between HF1, HF2 and HF3?

Each product has different functions in line with the user’s preferences.

HF1.0 Dual is designed to be used as a hands-free device with a voice recognition function for increased commodity and safety. It has  one speaker and can be paired up with up to two mobile phones or a Bluetooth® GPS. It further serves as a slave device in an Intercom functionality.

HF2.0 Dual is designed to be used as a hands-free device and further allows for a higher quality sound to enjoy your music due to its two speakers. It can be paired up with up to two mobile phones or a Bluetooth® GPS. It further serves as a slave device in an Intercom functionality.

Double link function

How does the double link function work?

The double link function allows two devices, acting as intercoms, to maintain a connection to their respective phones. This allows for pilot-passenger communication. It also allows each user to take calls independently.

Can the passenger listen to the pilot’s conversations when the intercom is active?

No. The inter-communication function is interrupted during the call and re-starts when the call finishes. The passenger can never listen to the pilot’s conversations.

Can you listen to music while using the intercom device?

No. If the pilot or passenger activates the music player, the intercom function will automatically stop.

Can I listen to instructions from the GPS while using the intercom function?

No. The intercom makes exclusive use of the Twiins® device. If you want to listen to instructions from the GPS you will have to stop the intercom function.

Hands free

I lose words or parts of words during a call. Why is this?

You may be experiencing interference due to the phone’s connection to the communication tower. If you are travelling at high speeds, it will have to change from one exchange to the next, disconnecting from the first and reconnecting to the second. These issues can interfere with your communication.

Can you adjust the volume for music or calls?

You can adjust the volume from your phone, GPS or MP3 player coupled to the Twiins® device. We strongly recommend you adjust the volume for both calls and music before driving.

Up to what speed can I talk on the phone using my Twiins® device?

Many different factors influence the quality of calls while driving. The position of the headphones, the space between the speakers and the ear, aerodynamics, the sound of the engine, environmental noise, etc. Taking these factors into account, to enjoy the best sound quality, we recommend a maximum speed of around 80km/h.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to set up your call volume preferences before your ride.

Does the Twiins® Hands-free Audio devices work without mobile network?

Yes, Twiins® audio devices work but not the phone calls or other phone issues requiring cell signal.

Are the Twiins® Hands-free Audio devices for helmets waterproof?

The microphone is water-resistant, but the audio device does not need this protection because all the important electronics remain protected under the helmet.

Voice activation

How does the voice activation function work?

All Twiins® devices are fitted with a voice activation function and allow you to answer calls simply by saying “Hello ” or any other word out loud when you hear the call tone.

Intercom

I paired the devices to use the intercom function but we can’t hear each other.

When you first pair the device make sure that you hear the audio signal to confirm the process. The intercom function can be temporarily disconnected by pushing the microphone button to avoid distractions during the ride. Push the HF3.0 button once again to reestablish connection.

If pairing is active and when pushing the button again you still cannot hear, please check that the device is really paired.

When can I use my Twiins® as an intercom?

By combining device HF3.0 with any other Twiins® HandsFree or standard INTERCOM devices. This will allow you to enjoy the intercom function.

Music

Can I listen to music from my mobile phone via Bluetooth?

Yes, all the Twiins® HandsFree devices allow you to connect to your playlists and enjoy the music while on the road. You can check your phone’s characteristics in terms of audio compatibility.

Up to what speed can I listen to music with my Twiins® device?

The music volume is determined by the connected device, be it an MP3 player, a phone or a GPS.

There are many other factors that influence the volume of the music while driving. The position of the headphones, the space between the speakers and the ear, aerodynamics, the sound of the engine, environmental noise, etc. Taking these factors into account, it is not possible to state a concrete speed allowing for acceptable music quality.

Warning: be sure to set up the music volume before starting to drive.

Can I listen to music from a phone through two Twiins® devices at the same time?

No, each device will only play the music from the phone or MP3 player that it is coupled with.
